Our true aim at STS is not to simply impart knowledge but to kindle minds. As it is said that the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates BUT, the great teacher inspires. We at STS inspire our students to be better citizens of the world.
We believe learning should be Joyous and full of excitement. The learning experience is life’s greatest adventure; it is an illustrated excursion into the minds of conscious and interested learners. Students have ready minds waiting to be taught, they are anxious to explore, learn and master.
Joyful learning is, “Engaging, empowering and physical learning of meaningful content in a loving and supportive community. Through this joyful learning process, our students are always improving knowledge of self and the world.
We recognise, however, that joy is experienced individually and that content matters a great deal. Thus we embark on our journey of making education a joyful experience for students and teachers alike. We know what happens in school, has a deep and lasting effect on the mindset that children develop towards lifelong journey. A teacher effects till eternity and one can never tell when his or her influence stops. Teachers want to create joy in the classroom as it facilitates more and faster learning.
At STS, the challenge to create joyful learning in the class has been met by addressing the hearts and minds of the children and exposing them to the wonders of learning and all the fascinating complexities of life. At STS we ensure that students get pleasure in learning when their love to learn about things of their interest like cars, aeroplanes, dolls etc. is created. And at the same time some undergo great joy when they get to learn how to dance and sing and express their will, emotions and feelings.
Learning is a state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing seems to matter; the experience itself is so enjoyable that people will do it at even a great cost for sheer sake of doing it.
At STS, we transform the approach of playing by segregating into the choice of inclination of students for indoor and outdoor sports. We also employ approaches of preparing students to rethink ‘failure’. We want our students to be recharged and enthusiasm. This we do by inculcating a sense of consistency, independence and order within the peer groups.
We introduce ways to increase laughter in the classroom. Student’s together work on creating stories, picture books, posters, power point presentations, models, diagrams, oral histories, photographs, paintings, songs etc. Our teachers discover new things with our students thus incorporating mysteries into their lessons. We try to replace lectures with conversations.
At STS, we incorporate Joyful Learning in the classroom by:
- Fostering a sense of independence and order
- Having love and enthusiasm for life
- By having a sense of humility
- Using activities that keep the kids engaged and the lesson moving smoothly
- Involving all students and promoting a ‘team work’ atmosphere
- Showing them that we care for them and promote fairness
- Encouraging them, celebrating their success and thanking them for their efforts
Joy happens when the children are free to make mistakes and learn from them. Joyful environments are safe to learn. A classroom cannot be a joyful place of learning unless our teachers and students take care of themselves both mentally and physically. STS teachers are Designers of Learning and are creating experiences tailored to suit outcomes.
